ALL ABOUT DOUBLE-WEAVE – 1

Have you ever wished that your Rigid Heddle loom was just a little bit wider?

Well….. Actually it is!

With the simple addition of an extra heddle and two pick-up sticks, you can weave up to twice the width of your loom!!

…AND, you can also weave two layers of cloth simultaneously, joined at the sides – tube formation = no side seams to sew – what a win!

….. AND if that isn’t enough for you, we can also weave two layers of cloth at the same time which are not joined at all!

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to weaving double-cloth on a rigid heddle loom – which is why this course is ALL ABOUT DOUBLE-WEAVE – 1!

In this all new on-line course, we will explore these three basic Double-weave possibilities and apply them to a beautiful, colour co-ordinated pair of cushion covers and a double-width throw.

A once-off payment secures lifetime access to the course content, and you can work through the course at your own pace.

Your guide through the intricacies of this wonderful technique is Glynis from weave@brooklands.

With close to forty (no, that isn’t a typo) years of weaving experience under her belt, and at least twenty of those years spend exploring Rigid Heddle weaving techniques, Glynis is well qualified to guide even the most apprehensive weaver through the process of weaving double-cloth on a Rigid Heddle Loom.

  • Every step of the process is explained and illustrated with comprehensive video instruction
  • A downloadable workbook is included for easy reference to the information.
  • Secure, private chat using the Telegram App where we can ask questions, discuss issues, and share progress.
  • Ample warp and yarn allowance for sampling, so that you are familiar with the techniques before diving into the project proper.
  • Two warps which demonstrate and consolidate the process of threading the two heddles, with or without multiple colours for guidance.
  • This project can also be woven on small looms (minimum weaving width 40cm), by breaking the throw down into two double-width panels – threading draft for this possibility is included in the course notes.

There are two beautiful colourways for this project featuring the gorgeous Colourspun cotton
